The History of Hacienda Serena

For more than 130 years, Arena Vallarta has hosted a variety of livestock and commercial events to the delight of both residents and visitors alike. The Bernal family owns arena Vallarta and they embrace the region’s cowboy spirit that still captivates visitors today. The family is also passionate about equestrian culture and vernacular art, too. In addition, they also have one of the oldest cattle irons in Puerto Vallarta. Visitors that attend charro shows at the arena such as the annual Campeonato Internacional Charro Arena Vallarta get to see real life cowboys compete in a wide range of events. Today, the arena is a local homebase for professional charros, beautiful escaramuzas and charro demonstrations that have won over the hearts of Puerto Vallarta. The Bernal family is proud to share their rich heritage and traditions with guests.  Today, Hacienda Serena has also been transformed into an inviting space with a colorful theatrical show that transports guests back to old Mexico.

World Class Entertainment

The dinner show at Hacienda Serena is a theatrical experience that will enchant guests. The show will take guests on a journey through Mexico’s history starting with the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors up through the Mexican Revolution. Guests will be charmed by the live Mariachi music that will fill the air as they enjoy a delicious meal. The inspiration behind the meal comes from traditional flavors recalled from favorite childhood memories of the show’s creators. In addition, the Orígenes dinner-show is a world class display with high-quality staging and professional performers. Also, the show was written by famous filmmaker Óscar Blancarte who is the winner of several Arieles, including best director and best screenplay. Today, the Hacienda Serene Origenes performance was adapted by Mario Hernández, an award winning director that has been honored at numerous international festivals.

Authentic Mexican Dinner

Guests attending Hacienda Serena will enjoy a gourmet dinner as they enjoy world class entertainment. Renowned Patron Chef Bernhard Güth is the head chef at the famed TRIO restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. He is also the driving force before Mamá Serena’s kitchen at Hacienda Serena. Guests will be enamored by the flavorful dishes that perfectly combine traditional Mexican cuisine and fresh ingredients. Memories of traditional Mexican family gatherings were the inspiration for the dinner show’s menu.  Just imagine the smell of toasted chilies, thyme, bay leaves, boiled milk, cilantro, onion and noodle soup as you enjoy the incredible live entertainment. Most importantly, only fresh, local, organic and free grazing ingredients are used. The impressive menu is healthy while still respecting the authentic flavors of Mexico.
