Who doesn’t enjoying a live music show? While large scale concerts are no doubt exciting, there is something magical about live music in a cozy and quaint setting. In Puerto Vallarta, there are endless amounts of great bars and nightclubs that feature live music shows at night. Did you know that there are also incredible restaurants in Puerto Vallarta with live music so you can eat a tasty dinner while you enjoy the show?

Here are some hot spots to check out for live music in PV.  

#1 Bambinos Trattoria

Do you want to get off the beaten path and find a hidden gem? Bambinos Trattoria is located in the old town part of Puerto Vallarta known as the Zona Romantica. A handsome and charismatic four brother ensemble known as “Los Bambinos” regularly perform and cover a variety of your favorite hit songs in both English and Spanish. The Italian inspired cuisine includes delicious pizzas, a selection of homemade pastas, fresh salads, seafood and tasty beef entrees. The food is outstanding and the prices don’t break the bank either! Bring your friends and family along and order a little bit of everything from the menu so you can really get a taste for the delicious offerings on the menu. #2 Bistro Teresa

Bistro Teresa is smack dab in the heart of downtown Puerto Vallarta, right off the central plaza and Virgin de Guadalupe church above Starbucks. The entrance to Bistro Teresa is by elevator which is hidden next door to the Starbucks off the main plaza right across from the famous Puerto Vallarta boardwalk arches. Bistro Teresa offers stunning views of Banderas Bay and the PV arches where regular cultural events are held.  While Bistro Teresa is an elegant fine dining restaurant, the outdoor terrace seating is more casual and perfect for a sunset cocktail with friends. Whether you decide to stay inside in the cool A/C, or sit outside al fresco in the classy bar area, the live music on Wednesday nights can’t be missed. Each Wednesday night at 6pm, the duo of Zoe & Leon perform their passionate Spanish guitar music that will thrill visitors. Tap your feet along with Zoe & Leon as you take in their rhythmic and soulful melodies. Happy hour drinks are 2×1 from 5pm to 7pm so come a bit early and enjoy a sunset cocktail. The waitstaff and bartenders are outstanding and really do an incredible job to make your evening everything you want and more.

#3 Porfirio’s

Looking for an upscale and modern restaurant closer to the hotel zone? Porfirio’s is located in the Plaza Peninsula development across the river from the La Isla shopping center off the main road in town.  On Wednesday through Saturday evenings, an impressive live mariachi performance will thrill diners with their powerful voices and inspired melodies. Are you a wine lover? At Porfirio’s, their menus and wine list are presented on individual iPad’s that are brought right to your table for you to peruse. Take a high tech look at the great wine selections available and then sit back so you can focus on the lively Mariachi performance that thrills guests. The menu is mainly Mexican specialities, fine cuts of meat as well as a good selection of appetizers and desserts. No matter what you order, the best part of your night will no doubt be the live mariachi dressed in their finest. Don’t miss them each evening between Wednesday and Saturday around 9pm!  

#4 El Rio BBQ

Last but not least, El Rio BBQ is found in a humble and quiet neighborhood called Paso Ancho that is a few minutes inland off the tunnel road behind downtown. Located alongside a beautiful river that boasts an impressive rock wall backdrop, El Rio BBQ is a casual restaurant with sand on the ground and lots of tables with shady umbrellas to escape the hot Vallarta sun.  El Rio BBQ menu features delicious pork and beef barbeque that is inspired by traditional BBQ in the states. Make sure to order the homemade bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers if you’re in the mood for a spicy and delicious treat. When you’re ready to cool off, take a dip in the refreshing river which is just steps away from the restaurant’s seating area. El Rio regularly hosts live music and has top local and visiting musicians perform on their main stage. Shake a leg and then cool off by with a refreshing lime margarita or a cold Corona beer that will surely quench your thirst.
