Puerto Vallarta has many attractions, but without a doubt one of the most iconic is the Marigalante pirate ship galleon; this is a replica galleon modelled upon the Santa Maria (the flagship of Christopher Columbus when he sailed to the Americas). This is a modern ship, however, and underneath the convincingly 16th century wooden cladding (and the three masts complete with galleon sails) there is a 400 ton steel ship with all the safety features you would expect.
The Marigalante Pirate Ship Galleon in Puerto Vallarta
Beneath the Marigalante’s authentic 16th Century wooden appearance lies a steel vessel fitted with all the modern safety features and stabilizers expected. It weighs approximately 400 tons, including its 3 wooden masts with typical galleon sails.
On board the Marigalante Pirate Ship galleon in Puerto Vallarta there are four decks which, between them, host a total of 240 passengers per trip (and for anyone who would like to know there are 300 life jackets on board – more than one per person should the need ever arise!).The dining areas are both air conditioned, there are two great bars, and even a VIP deck which seats 70 people. Other features found on board the Marigalante Pirate Ship galleon in Puerto Vallarta are a fully functioning stainless steel kitchen, two stocked bars, and stylishly decked out bathrooms which have been finished with high quality materials like marble and mahogany. There is even a designated area on board the ship which has been set aside for showering and changing after Ocean based activities.
The Marigalante Pirate Show which takes place on board may be swashbuckling, daring, and positively pyrotechnic, but your safety is the number one concern, and this is why there are 25 five litre fire extinguishers dotted around the ship should you need them. Of course, we are sure neither they nor the life jackets will be needed, but it’s nice to know they’re there.
Finally, to make sure the experience you have is top notch the Marigalante also has a stage, lighting and sound equipment, and all the storage areas to keep it all safe and ready to spring into action.
