Scheduled Maintenance for the Marigalante Pirate Ship Puerto Vallarta

You may be asking yourself why you have not seen the Marigalante Pirate Ship’s iconic silhouette on the horizon these last few days in Banderas Bay or enjoyed the regular firework display on Puerto Vallarta’s malecon. Well, for your continued safety and enjoyment, Puerto Vallarta’s Marigalante Pirate Ship has taken some time out for scheduled maintenance.

Extensive maintenances takes place every two years to make sure that the pirate ship, which is a replica of the Spanish galleon, the Santa Maria, that Christopher Columbus once sailed on his adventures to the Americas, remains in perfect condition to receive the thousands of tourists that hop aboard for the best show on Banderas Bay day or night.

Important Maintenance

Temporary Dry Dock for the Marigalante Pirate Ship

The owners of the Marigalante pirate ship in Puerto Vallarta are investing more than 10,000,000 pesos (more than 500,000 US dollars) to carry out scheduled maintenance on the favorite Banderas Bay icon. The pirate ship set sail from Puerto Vallarta to Mazatlan on May 3rd, sailing for more than 36 hours to reach its temporary destination. April 30, “El Dia del Niño” (Children’s Day) was the last tourist show, celebrating the child inside all of us before the galleon was prepared for its voyage. Staff in Puerto Vallarta began dismantling the equipment used in the show, getting it ready for its technical maintenance. On May 2nd, the ship left for the port of Mazatlán in the state of Sinaloa where, upon its arrival on May 3rd, a team of experts set to work immediately raising the ship to dry dock in order to carry out the important maintenance.
